Module 1: Introduction to Safeguarding in Development Work
Understand what safeguarding means, why it matters, and how it intersects with ethics, protection, and human rights.
Module 2: Identifying and Assessing Risk
– Learn to conduct safeguarding risk assessments for different contexts, population groups, and program types.
– Pay particular attention to power imbalances and vulnerabilities in your operating environments.
Module 3: Developing a Safeguarding Policy
Receive step-by-step guidance on drafting safeguarding policies that reflect best practices, legal frameworks, and donor requirements.
Module 4: Reporting Mechanisms and Case Management
– Design accessible, survivor-centered reporting channels.
– Build capacity to manage disclosures and referrals with care, confidentiality, and due process.
Module 5: Staff Roles and Responsibilities in Safeguarding
– Define who is responsible for what—from leadership to volunteers.
– Integrate safeguarding into recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management systems.
Module 6: Safeguarding in Program Design and Implementation
– Apply a safeguarding lens across the program lifecycle.
– Learn to mitigate risks in planning, implementation, and M&E phases of your project work.
Module 7: Cultivating a Safeguarding Culture
– Explore strategies to build a proactive, learning-centered safeguarding culture.
